UAL Summer School 2024 Visual Merchandising Courses
For September’s blog post I wanted to share with you some of the highlights from this year’s Visual Merchandising Summer school, which I taught for The University of the Arts London – as part of their UAL Short Courses program 🤩
It was great to be back teaching at Central St Martins in Kings Cross Granary Square. The UAL short Visual Merchandising Courses featured a mix of theory and practical carried out in the classroom, as well as two days of retail visits for the students to see the Visual Merchandising techniques in practice.
Our student visits included ;
We loved the iconic Miss Dior Pop Up at Harrods which features throughout their ground floor window space. Featuring a wall of colour blocked iconic Dior bags and screen printed Dior images for customers to take home.
A visit to Selfridges Corner Shop where we saw the Omega Pop Up celebrating the 2024 Paris Olympics and the Jacquemus x Nike giant swoosh !
The students loved trying the Baked Bean ice cream at Anya Hindmarch’s village stores featuring the Ice Cream Project. We loved how the brand uses the selection of stores in Pont Street to create a different brand experience in each space.
So much creativity was found and seen at Dover Street Market, lots of inspiration for mannequin styling and treatments.
Then finally a private tour with the amazing Jason around House of Hackney’s flagship at St Michaels. The students enjoyed learning how to put different prints together and how animal print can be used as a neutral within an interior scheme. Thank you Jason the students really enjoyed your tour, it helped to enrich their learning experience of styling and interiors.
