Recorded Online Visual Merchandising Courses

New for 2024, VMC have partnered with IGDS – Intercontinental Group of Department Stores, to create two recorded online Visual Merchandising Video Courses for their Department Store Members. Both the Beginners and Advanced Video Courses are now available to access by all VMC students and customers.
These courses are hosted on our Member Vault platform and bookable via the IGDS website, using the link at the bottom of this page which will take you through to their enrolment page. Complete the enrolment form and one of the IGDS team will assist you with enrolling for your chosen course.

Students have the flexibility to learn at their own pace, with access to the Member Vault platform for 12 months, where you will be able to access video tutorials and presentations. Courses have up to 45 hours of learning.

Optional coursework is set throughout each course, to help you practice the Visual Merchandising skills taught throughout the modules. Interactive coursework feedback and support is given and supported by me via email.

Choose from our Beginners Guide to Visual Merchandising and An Advanced Guide to Visual Merchandising.

What our customers have to say

The Visual Merchandising Courses have been very interesting; I have been working in retail for nearly 15 years and VM has been quite big part of it even though I´ve never really had any official training in it. I was familiar with most of the techniques but your courses helped me to organise information in my mind so now I am able to answer questions confidently based upon the principles of VM theory and not only on my experience. This can be a challenging reasoning especially in Department Stores.

The biggest treasure from this course in my opinion is customer flow exercise, this is something I will be using a lot in the future.

VMC delivered Essex Wildlife Trust with an excellent introduction to visual merchandising. Sarah was immediately able to get on a level with the delegates, quickly ascertaining everyone’s skills sets and training needs on both a group and 1-2-1 basis. Sarah was quick to put the room at ease with her wonderful nature and extensive experience, particularly in attraction retail and secondary spend. This made the training much more pointed and bespoke to us, as secondary spend retailer, where the way visitors navigate a site and spend can differ slightly to a regular high street proposition.

The course offered a healthy balance of both theory and practical training, with plenty of opportunity for the trainees to explore their own unique flair and style, whilst being overseen by Sarah’s studious eye. The course slides were extremely clear and concise, coupled with excellence in presentation standards. This made for and very creative and educational day which the entire retail team felt was focused and extremely useful. Sarah also adjusted the pace of the course depending on the needs of the room and took her time to talk over the reasons why people shop in the way they do and the quick wins to be explored to ensure an excellent cost ratio benefit. Sarah has also been kind enough to offer continued support post course, which has been extremely useful for some of our more problematic areas to tackle.

Sarah made an invaluable contribution to the creation and delivery of our new visual merchandising courses. She spent time getting to know our business and understanding how her expertise could be made relevant and accessible to our people. The result has been a resounding success with all our delegates enjoying the course, whatever their own levels of experience or seniority. They have all gone away from the course inspired and immediately feeling creative. We have seen a really positive contribution to our business as a result; so much so that she is coming back for another series of courses next year! Thank you, Sarah.

Judy Roberts – Creative Director, CH

I found the course extremely informative and felt it covered everything expected and more. I also found the course hand-outs that Sarah provided useful as a learning aid, but I think it will be also most useful as a tool to look back on following the course. As a result of the course I have already begun to introduce new merchandising into our concessions and have already begun to see the benefits from the course. I would not hesitate to recommend this course to people looking to improve their Visual Merchandising skills.

Using Sarah within her role as a freelance merchandiser and window dresser gives me much needed flexibility within my business. It allows me to bring in professional expertise when and where I need it, without having to increase my payroll significantly. It really is the way forward in my mind, when more and more businesses have to keep their costs to a minimum to maximise their profits.

Sarah’s expertise and dedication to VM became very apparent after an initial meeting. From there she designed a course and handouts for our Triumph Motorcycles network of Motorcycle which was superb. It was great to see the candidates getting hands on with VM and learning so many techniques that they have taken back to their dealerships and implemented. It was a pleasure to work with Sarah and the dealer feedback was that they want more. I look forward to running more and more courses with Sarah in the future.
