UAL Visual Merchandising Interiors Course CSM
Great to be back teaching at UAL’s Central Saint Martins this week teaching the five day Visual Merchandising Interiors Short Course.
During this short course the student’s learnt how interior retail spaces can be arranged in ways that attract customers, maximise their engagement with products, and motivate them to buy. Student’s received an overview of visual merchandising techniques for interiors and explored how current consumer trends can be incorporated within retail. I explained how the fundamental principles, inspiration and techniques involved in Visual Merchandising for retailers creates a visual and sensory experience to drive interest back to our high streets.
During the five day course we visited Selfridges Corner Shop, the students enjoyed seeing the newly launched Elton John Pop Up Shop which celebrates the UK leg of Elton’s farewell tour. We also visited the inspiring House of Hackney Head Office at St Michael’s which was truly amazing to see the brand’s new Spring Interior ranges showcased so beautifully throughout each room setting.
Students had the opportunity to create two practical projects which included a window styling project for a Pop Up Shop- where they created their own 3D model and an interior styling project where we focused upon incorporating current consumer trends.
I really enjoyed meeting and sharing my knowledge with this year’s students and I hope they left the class today feeling inspired by their new found Visual Merchandising knowledge !
This five day course will be running again at Central Saint Martins on 7th August 2023, for more information please click on the UAL course page link which can be found below;
